MENTOR to Host Webinar on Recruitment and Screening

Standards from MENTOR's newly revised Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™, third edition (EEPM). Geared toward mentoring programs, this webinar will address the recommended benchmarks and enhancements to include: recruitment strategies that include managing realistic expectations and the importance of screening procedures, such as written applications, face-to-face interviews and criminal background checks. Featured speakers include Dr. Renée Spencer, Associate Professor, Boston University School of Social Work, who will discuss her research on why mentoring relationships fail. Research by Dr. Spencer was used to support the recruitment benchmarks from the EEPM. Additional speakers include Celeste Janssen, Program Manager, Oregon Mentors and Jenny Stern-Carusone, Program Director, Committed Partners for Youth/Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County, OR who will provide information on best practices on how to adhere to the recruitment and screening benchmarks.

Throughout 2010, MENTOR will host a series of webinars that are designed to train mentoring programs on MENTOR's Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™, third edition.
